Looking across all of the photos and footage I have from New York Fashion Week, I definitely have to say “Georgine” was the show I enjoyed the most. From BEGINNING TO END, I absolutely fell in love with the collection and I actually ENJOYED the show! I say that because most of the time I’m so focused and so in the zone of shooting (trying to get the perfect shot) that I never really catch all of the details or experience what I see on the runway until after the fact when I’m editing photos…Oh but, with Ms. Georgine! Georgine! Georgine! Hahaha, I actually had to stop a few times and do a double take! It was nothing but amazing! I’d like to think of this collection as a “casually chic” because it was the perfect blend and balance for looks you could either do for a nice time enjoying the beach (swimwear) or a nice lunch ON the beach.
What I loved most and what really blew me away was the grace of a black model (a woman of color) OPENING AND CLOSING the show! Simply amazing! One thing NYFW lacks is diversity among the models and its not just about african-american models but all races across the board; it was definitely a shocker and almost everyone I talked to after the show noticed and agreed as well. Interestingly enough, just before fashion week I saw a post on Instagram saying “Do the women of color really have something to look forward to at NYFW” and it’s like you have no choice but to look at the truth and statistics however, this may just be the beginning of the tables turning. Everything about this show was just amazing check out the photos and video from the show below.
